Help our team of researchers find out what exactly an emoji means and what purpose it serves. We are a team of researchers from UMass Chan (Dr. Joy Lee), Emory University and Indiana University. We are analyzing transcripts from online patient engagement sessions delivered to youths with HIV. We are specifically interested in how emoji are used in the sessions.
This is an UNPAID opportunity with flexible hours. We cannot pay you for your efforts. But you are welcome to participate as a co-author of any resulting abstracts and manuscripts, depending on your interest and time.
Responsibilities:
To read and annotate group sessions using an established rubric along with other coders. This will require first meeting with the team to undergo a training in how to code the texts, as well as joining in bi-weekly check-in meetings to discuss progress and reconcile finding to ensure consistency within and between coders.
