Description
The Focus On Youth curriculum is being implemented in public primary schools across the Bahamas on multiple islands with the ultimate goal of teaching children decision making and reducing risky behaviors in Bahamian Youth. This curriculum was adapted from a program mainly focused on HIV Prevention efforts in the Bahamas. While in the Bahamas, students focused on a project examining the efficacy and implementation of this curriculum throughout schools through data entry, transcription of focus group interviews, and shadowing in the infectious disease clinic in Nassau, Bahamas.
Goals
1. Learn about and gain an understanding of the impact that the Focus on Youth curriculum plays in local schools. 2. Shadow in clinics to better inform the healthcare systems within the Bahamas and how health literacy and sexual health education can play a role in influencing transmission of HIV and other sexual transmitted diseases. 3. Manuscript writing. 4. Data Entry
