Description
Currently, the literature surrounding how sex (defined as sex at birth) influences sternal wound infection rates in cardiac and thoracic non-cardiac surgery has mixed outcomes. In this study, we will analyze sex-based differences in sternal wound infection (SSI) rates following isolated CABG using a nation-wide pool on TriNetX. If we find that pre-menopausal women have lower rates of SSI following isolated CABG, it may be indicative of the use of estrogen therapy in reducing poorer outcomes post-operatively.
Goals
1) Identify controlled variables, 2) Use TriNetX to identify SSI results in selected population 3) Identify future suggestions of how to reduce pos-operative SSI rates based on collected data/outcomes
