Description
Our group is working with Worcester RISE (Refugee and Immigrant Support and Empowerment) This organization aims to build and provide effective, culturally-sensitive, trauma-informed and community-grounded healthcare interventions that eliminate barriers and help refugees and immigrants achieve health equity and self-sufficiency through innovation, co-location, capacity-building and collaboration. Worcester RISE recently began a new initiative to provide training to both (1) front line workers and to (2) behavioral health providers to build a network of trauma-informed trained and culturally sensitive workers and providers that are ultimately better-equipped to care for newly arrived refugees. This project is a quality improvement study looking at the content of the trainings as well as the staff responses.
Goals
literature review; observation of processes at RISE as a clinical volunteer; surveys/interviews with RISE staff
