Description
This proposed project sponsored by the Office of Admissions is for medical students interested in medical school administration and admissions. Students learn how admissions works from the inside, from application review through the interview process and candidate selection. Participants will help design more contemporary, sustainable, and equitable interview methods. Faculty and student-interviewer time is limited, so the project explores how emerging technologies (asynchronous video platforms such as Kira, and virtual or hybrid formats) can broaden and strengthen the process without sacrificing fairness or the personal touch.
Goals
Understand how medical school admissions works, including the structure and governance behind it; Develop skills in educational innovation, program evaluation, and academic leadership; Contribute to a sustained, real-world improvement initiative around innovating the medical school interview process; identify the qualities sought in appliants and develop objective criteria for assessing their potential to succeed as medical students.
